Instagram Hacks for 2020
We know you've read plenty of articles in 2019 preparing for 2020. But here we are living and breathing it and in the midst of a global pandemic too. So we thought we'd revisit the topic and list our top 6 Instagram Hacks for 2020.
1) GET INTERACTIVE
Get your audience to talk to you by using Instagram's Story features. Use polls, quizzes, countdowns. Nothing like a little game of "This or That" to get to know what your audience likes.
2) CREATE CUSTOM QUIZZES, BACKGROUNDS AND GAMES
Create your own quiz where your audience can answer in emojis or stickers. Find out everything from what they're watching to their favourite foods. Create backgrounds they can screenshot or blank canvas "get to know me" games they can share with friends.

3) MAKE FRIENDS WITH IGTV
If you have longer video to share, use IGTV. You can now share previews to both your feed and your stories so you have plenty of places to promote your video content. Don't waste it. This is the perfect space to share tutorials, interviews and more.
4) CAPTION LENGTH HAS DOUBLED
Yep. Since 2016, caption length has actually. doubled. No more one liners and witty banter. Your caption is your opportunity to educate your audience. Give useful and thoughtful details. This does not mean ramble on about nothing. Give details on the product, offer, benefits and how to use it.
5) USE YOUR HASHTAGS
You get a maximum of 30, but we'd say 15-20 is the sweet-spot. Try to find niche hashtags, relevant to your business goals, that have been used anywhere between 1,000 to 500,000 times. During your research, note hashtags #s.
Once your hashtag research is complete, divide the list into groups. Each group should have a range of hashtag sizes. While you can use larger hashtags (500,000+ times), try mostly using smaller hashtags (used between 1,000 to 10,000 times). Doing so increases the likelihood of tapping into a close-knit community of people who actively follow the hashtag.
6) DON'T PRETEND COVID-19 ISN'T THERE
We are all in a tailspin with this worldwide pandemic. A wise quote did the rounds saying: "It's not business as usual, it is business as best we can". Keep this in mind when talking to your audience. Don't stuff discounts and sales down their throats all year. Create meaningful. content. and have honest conversations. Your transparency and approachable demeanour will do wonders for your brand.
